Swedish online gaming operator Betsson announced in June 2020 that it would make its grand debut in the US sports betting market through a partnership with Dostal Alley Casino in Central City.
Betsson Sportsbook is largely unknown in the United States, but that will be changing soon with its launch of mobile betting in Colorado beginning in early 2021 according to company projections.
The Betsson brand is a successful and regulated operator in European markets with a history in gambling extending back to the early 1960s. This gaming company brings with it decades’ worth of experience, but whether or not that will translate to success in the US market remains to be seen.
Our Betsson Colorado review and preview will attempt to shed some light on what to expect ahead of its launch in Colorado. Below, we will dig into Betsson’s history as a gaming operator and consider its European operations to preview what may come when it makes its Colorado debut. This review will be updated over time as we learn more and again when Betsson goes live.

Betsson Colorado Launch Date
According to a press release announcing its plans to enter Colorado, Betsson aims to begin taking wagers sometime in early 2021. Betsson took an important step toward that milestone in December 2020 by acquiring a license from the Limited Gaming Control Commission (LGCC). Now, the launch of Betsson CO is imminent.
Colorado will mark Betsson’s first foray into the US market, including the construction of an office in Colorado. Betsson says it plans to expand to additional states over time as well, including providing its propriety business-to-business sportsbook software to other operators in the industry.
Betsson has been slower to launch in the US than many of its European rivals but says this is all a part of a plan “to grow in a financially safe manner, with low risk, ensuring a long term sustainable and growing business.”
As Betsson Colorado launch date approaches, we will provide more details here.
Betsson Colorado Bonuses and Promotions
What promotions Betsson Colorado may offer remain to be seen, but its operations elsewhere provide hints as to how Betsson tends to manage promotional offerings.
Sportsbook Deposit Bonus
In other markets, Betsson welcomes all new customers with a $10 free bet just for signing up plus a 100% up to $100 first deposit bonus. This is likely similar to what Betsson will offer in Colorado due to the competitive nature of the CO online betting market.
The Betsson deposit bonus in other markets comes with a rollover of 6x the deposit + bonus amount, which is not bad. Some US sportsbooks offer even lower rollovers of 1x, but this one is still better than the all too common 20x rollover bonus.
Recurring Sports Betting Promotions
Betsson hosts regular ongoing promos for existing customers as well. Examples of past promotions may provide a preview of the types of promos Betsson will bring to Colorado bettors.
- First Goalscorer Refund: If your wager on the first person to score a goal in a soccer game loses, but your chosen player scores at any time, Betsson will refund your original wager (up to $25)
- Daily Missions: Betsson occasionally hosts multi-week missions promos in which customers can win a share of cash every day for completing certain tasks. Examples of missions include things such as placing a $5 in-play bet on Monday, a $5 parlay wager on Tuesday and so on to earn entries into raffle drawings for large cash giveaways.
- Early Payouts: During this promo, customers with bets on soccer games were paid as winners if their selected teams got ahead by two goals or more at any point – even if their teams went on to lose or tie after the payout.
Sports Covered at Betsson Sportsbook
Betsson covers many sports on its international app and will likely come to Colorado with similar offerings. State law allows licensed operators to accept wagers on a full range of professional sports, college sports and esports – all of which are already covered by Betsson in other jurisdictions.
Outside the US, Betsson covers:
- Australian rules
- Beach Volleyball
- Formula 1
- Ice Hockey
- Mixed Martial Arts
- Politics and Business (not permitted in Colorado)
- Rugby League
- Rugby Union
- Table Tennis
- Winter Sports
Market depth for individual games is extensive as well, with Betsson sometimes offering more than 240 wagers on a single event. Types of wagers include standard moneylines, spreads and totals along with props, in-play betting, alternative lines and more.
Betsson Mobile App
Betsson offers several ways to bet online from any mobile device while on the go. Android and iOS users may download the official mobile app or head to m.betssson.com to sign in and place wagers with no download necessary. Meanwhile, desktop users may simply visit Betsson.com to place wagers from any desktop.
iOS Users: Open Apple’s App Store and search for “Betsson” by name or visit Betsson.com for a download link.
Android Users: Visit the Betsson website to download the official Android app directly from Betsson.
Everyone: Visit Betsson.com from any desktop or mobile device to place wagers with no download necessary.
Both iOS and Android users will find the Betsson app easy to use with simple navigation menus and the ability to quickly browse various sports, manage outstanding bets, view stats and place in-game wagers.
In-Play Betting Review
In-play betting is a strong suit for Betsson due to a large schedule of live betting events hosted each week. The in-play betting calendar at Betsson is usually busy and extends well beyond the normal range of major sports that most operators are limited to.
Betsson’s in-play betting coverage includes mainstream sports such as football, baseball, basketball and hockey but also includes others such as volleyball and table tennis. In-play esports betting also features prominently at Betsson.
Market depth for in-play betting events varies depending on the prominence of the event itself. Niche matchups such as those for volleyball often offer just a handful of markets while major sports events and larger esports matches may offer three dozen or more markets at any one time.
Betsson offers phone, e-mail and live chat customer support in other markets, but it remains to be seen how that experience will translate to the US market. However, the fact that Betsson will establish an office in Colorado hints at the company hiring locals and providing live support here in the US as well.
Live chat requests are usually answered within 30 seconds, e-mails within an hour and call-back requests within an hour.
Betsson has not yet disclosed which deposit methods it will accept, but Colorado regulations allow operators to accept a variety of easy-to-use options. As CO Sports Betting Rule 7 states, licensed sportsbooks may accept deposits via:
- Credit or debit card
- Cash or vouchers at approved cashiering locations
- Reloadable prepaid cards
- ACH transfers
- Wire transfers
- “Any other means approved by the Commission”
Colorado Sports Betting Rule 9 requires operators to meet certain responsible gaming standards. Among other requirements, operators must allow customers to opt out of direct marketing, provide fair promotions that come with clear terms and allow customers to self-exclude.
Betsson should have no issue meeting these requirements as it has long operated in other jurisdictions with similar requirements.
